Cancellation Policy
This policy explains how lesson cancellations and rescheduling are handled, as well as the separate statutory cancellation rights that may apply to services booked online.

1. Free introductory consultations
There is no charge for cancelling or rescheduling a free introductory consultation. If possible, please give as much notice as you can so that the time can be made available to somebody else.
2. Paid lesson cancellations

3. If I need to cancel
If I need to cancel a paid lesson, you will be offered a suitable alternative time or a full refund for that lesson. If I am unable to complete part of a lesson because of a problem on my side, I will make up the time or offer an appropriate credit or refund.
4. Lateness
If the student arrives late, the lesson will normally finish at the original scheduled time because another booking may follow. If I am late, the lost time will be made up or credited.
5. Technical problems
If an online lesson cannot reasonably proceed because of a technical problem on my side or a failure of the main teaching platform, I will offer a rescheduled lesson or an appropriate refund or credit.
If the problem is on the client’s side, I will make reasonable efforts to continue using an alternative method where practical. If the lesson cannot proceed, the late-cancellation terms may apply, but genuine exceptional circumstances will be considered reasonably.
6. Your statutory right to cancel an online booking
This is separate from the 24-hour lesson-cancellation policy above. When a consumer books a service online, UK consumer law will usually provide a 14-day cancellation period beginning when the contract is made.
You may normally cancel the contract within 14 days of the booking confirmation without giving a reason.
If you book a lesson that is due to take place within that 14-day period, you are asking for the tutoring service to begin before the statutory cancellation period has ended. Where required, I will ask you to confirm this expressly.
If you cancel after the service has begun but before it has been fully provided, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for the part of the service already supplied. Once a booked lesson has been fully provided, the statutory right to cancel that completed service may end where the legal requirements for early performance and acknowledgement have been met.
Nothing in this policy limits any statutory consumer right that applies to you.
7. How to exercise the statutory cancellation right
You can tell me clearly that you wish to cancel by emailing tutor@stephenvine.co.uk. You may use the model form below, but you do not have to.

8. Refunds
Where a refund is due, it will normally be made using the same payment method used for the booking unless another method is agreed. Statutory refunds will be made within the period required by law.
